Introducing a new character would also be one way to get further away from the whole "fan game" label by playing it a bit less safe and making it an actual canonical Sonic 4/5 in everything but name by introducing not only new levels and moves but also a new story line that revolves around this fourth new character (in the non-intrusive/organic style of Knuckles' introduction in 3 though, so without taking anything away from Sonic himself, as said). I know Sega's track record has not been the best with this for many of us old fans, and that there is a Sonic character overload already, but I certainly wouldn't mind it if they tried again here as long as Sonic remains the central figure and as long as the new character brings something unique to the table gameplay wise. Oh, well, I'll shut up about this now since it undoubtedly will be starting to bore people here.Īs I said before, I definitely wouldn't mind them trying their hand at introducing one new character - a teal colored one that excels in water for instance - to follow the trend set by Sonic 2 and 3 (and CD if you count Amy) to introduce a new character that (hopefully) will get accepted by the fans as a new mainstay. Just using flat buildings but adding multiple layers of them though parallax scrolling adds plenty of depth already I find. Yes, like someone else pointed out, it does add a degree of graphical fidelity and detail but as said imo at the cost of looking a tad off and showing the limitations of using perspective in this context. It again makes me wonder why they chose to throw this problem with perspective in 2D static art in our face so to speak in Mania by putting those Studiopolis towers so close to the foreground. Them choosing to sidestep the issue by using lights to show buildings and using rounder architecture and whatnot is interesting in this context as well I find. Then again it is perhaps slightly ness noticable there due to the buildings being farther away and because their rooftops don't go at an angle so much.I guess? Spring Yard and Chemical Plant indeed do it too, the latter more clearly than the former imo. never even participated.Looking at them side by side and without objects in front of them, which I had never done I think (and now I want this version of Casino Night as wallpaper as a result), I must admit that I had never noticed that some of the old stage art also had buildings shown with perspective. Christmasy Thing : Tried to make this one for a christmas contest. Jazzy Thing : Dunno how I'm gonna continue this, but thought I'd share what I have so far anyways. CUSTOM - Shop : Yet another song for the LP collab. Felt there was a lack of music for this kind of levels. CUSTOM - Crystal Mine : Another song for the LP collab. So simple, it took me over a year to finish for some damn reason. CUSTOM - Grass : A simple grassland song I made for the Latino Project collaboration hack. If there's enough interest I could make a 16-bit remix for this one.Ĭomposed this one for a, well, cloudy beach level in a spanish contest.Īnd here's a list of thingies not found in the ZIP, mostly just compositions or whatever.
